Yordan and his team needed a new way of thinking about the same old challenges. By using the Fast Idea Generator to guide meetings, they demonstrated their commitment to becoming more effective. Read their Listen, Act, Learn. Repeat. story.
Yordan and Step for Bulgaria Foundation needed to infuse a new way of thinking into the challenges they face supporting youth with career opportunities. “We looked at the Fast Idea Generator as a tool to solicit new creative ideas from all of our key constituents,” he said.
Yordan and team held meetings with staff, volunteers, and their board of directors to re-imagine the intersection of business and education for their constituents. They used the Fast Idea Generator to lead the conversation. For example, they examined the status quo of the way people think about schools—“schools are for educating students”—and discussed the way schools actually provide educational opportunities for students, parents, and the local and business communities.
Yordan told GlobalGiving: “Our goal in using the Fast Idea Generator was to generate ideas as to what our organization could be doing, originating from all of our constituents’ perspectives on our work.” He added:
“By bending, breaking, and stretching the normal rules, the tool provided us with a structure around which to model our thoughts for the education system; in fact, after our first round of using it, many of us continued to expand different categories of it with further ideas.”
Yordan and team plan to further make use of the tool to develop an action plan of how to incorporate the most promising ideas from the session. Yordan described the tool as “instrumental” in developing a sound program strategy.
After visiting Step for Bulgaria as part of GlobalGiving’s Field Program, Skye said: “I was amazed by the important work that Step for Bulgaria is doing with their long term mentoring program and workshops. I am so impressed with the positive impact they are having, not only on their individual constituents, but also for the community at large.”
