Olimpia Theodoli

After living in London for 25 years and working in the art world Olimpia and her husband, Antonio, fell in love with Crete, its Mediterranean climate and especially its welcoming and generous people. Crete For Life was set up to share the healing benefits of the island with children who are victims of war, man-made or natural catastrophes. Following a passion for travelling around the Mediterranean Sea, Syria, particularly Aleppo, became a second home. Crete has hosted many Syrian families running from the war, and many have become lifelong friends. Olimpia visited Aleppo in late 2022, just in time to see how hard life was for those who remained in the country, even before the tragedy of the Turkish-Syrian earthquake.
