Black-led nonprofit organizations or nonprofits that exist to support and uplift Black communities in the United States are eligible for this campaign. All participating nonprofits must be vetted and opt-in to GlobalGiving’s campaign invitation. Please complete this survey by Friday, July 19, 2024 to opt in to the campaign.
Campaign Overview
August is Black Philanthropy Month and Black Business Month, and we’d love for you to be part of the celebration! Back Black is a multi-partner movement to celebrate the long history and impact of Black-led philanthropy and address the chronic, systemic underfunding of Black-led nonprofits.
This year’s campaign brings together the nation's top fundraising platforms including GlobalGiving, Giving Gap, Givebutter, GoFundMe, Network for Good, DAF, and more to raise funds and awareness for Black-led nonprofits and nonprofits that exist to support and uplift Black communities in the United States. GlobalGiving has been awarded $10,000 to encourage BackBlack Campaign donations from the BackBlack Impact Fund. To be eligible for a BackBlack microgrant at the end of the campaign, your organization must receive at least one donation during the BackBlack Campaign. The $10,000 gift will be distributed evenly among all BackBlack participating and eligible organizations that receive a donation of any size. This is a great way to motivate your network to give!
GlobalGiving’s 2024 Back Black campaign will last 734 hours, from August 1, 2024, at 10:00:00 EDT to August 31, 2024, at 23:59:59 EDT.
Disbursement of funds raised and awarded in this campaign will be included in the usual monthly disbursement process.
Please note that all donations are final. GlobalGiving cannot change the time, date, or status of a donation after it is processed for any reason.
Any activity not in the spirit of requesting separate individuals to support donations is being moderated by GlobalGiving and GlobalGiving reserves the right to permanently disqualify organizations for any attempts of misconduct.
Donations made to a project using any of the following methods will count towards your total raised during the 2024 Back Black campaign:
Donations must be made by the account or credit card holder.
Donations received via any other methods will not count towards your total raised during the 2024 Back Black campaign. Ineligible donation methods include, but are not limited to: corporate gift cards, physical checks, cash donations, wire transfers, CAF checks and CAF Online, donations made on a GlobalGiving corporate or organizational giving site, and donations made directly to an organization rather than a project.
GlobalGiving is a registered nonprofit charity in the United States and England and Wales. Donations made by eligible donors in the United States can be claimed as tax deductible contributions on United States tax returns. Donations made by eligible donors in the United Kingdom can claim Gift Aid (an extra 25% added to eligible donations by the UK Government) when they donate in GBP.
GlobalGiving charges a minimal nonprofit support fee plus a 3% processing fee. For US and UK registered organizations, the nonprofit support fee is 5%; for organizations outside the US and UK, it is 7%. During the 2024 Back Black campaign, the fee only applies to the initial donation and not to bonus prizes or matching funds earned. The fee helps cover the costs we incur to promote your organization and projects, to provide you with fundraising training and tools, and to maintain and improve our online technology in order to keep you connecting with new donors.
