For those of you who know me, will know that I am more about Rum than Run, but those who also know me, will know that Venezuela is a country that I hold close to my heart.
15 years ago I set foot for the first time in Venezuela and fell in love with the country, the culture and the people. To see what is happening now in Venezuela pains me and the images I see are of stark contrast to the memories I carry with me and whilst I sit in London and observe from afar, there are children and families caught up in the turmoil who are suffering through no fault of their own and who need our help.
This September instead of hosting a Venezuelan charity rum event, I will be putting on my running shoes and will be competing in three 10km runs (and a shorter 2km in memory of friend) in the space of 2 weeks to raise awareness for Venezuela.
With the current political unrest happening in the country, there are communities within Venezuela that need our support now more than ever and with your kind donations, we will be able to support families in need of food supplies and children deprived of a good education.
I am very proud to be teaming up for a second year in a row with Venezuelan based charity Coromoto 2020, made up on an incredible group of volunteers, who have to date helped 90 000 families!
With a donation of just £8, food can be provided to teachers, who are currently paying for the material of their own students' to try to keep them in education and with a donation of as little as £26, support can be provided to 5 families with a supply of non perishable foods.
Any donation, whatever the amount, is a generous donation, and it will change lives.
Thank you in advance for all your support!
