Help the Silk Museum Feed Families in Egypt with the Egyptian Food Bank

Although the 19th Century fascination with Ancient Egypt has led to an increased effort to preserve and protect ancient artefacts, sharing knowledge and keeping historical interest alive, it is important to recognise the colonial aspects of this research and acknowledge the damage caused to Egyptian locals during British occupation during the Anglo-Egyptian War in July–September 1882.

As we continue to cherish and preserve the Egyptian artefacts donated to the museum, as part of this exhibition we are offering visitors the option to also donate to the Egyptian Food Bank, which for over 20 years, has been combating the issue of hunger in various parts of Egypt.

The Egyptian food bank reaches 450,000 families monthly across Egypt and as well as providing food for families in need, also work towards ending food waste in the region.
