Meet Dorcas ( True name not mentioned for data protection) : A Resilient Orphan Fighting for a Brighter Future
At just 17 years old, Dorcas' life has been a relentless battle. Losing her mother at a tender age and being abandoned by her father, she found herself under the care of her uncle. While her peers were enjoying the innocence of childhood, Dorcas was forced to confront unimaginable challenges.
Her dream? To become a doctor. She has specialized in sciences—Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics (BCM)—to one day, become a doctor and heal the sick and inspire other girls like her. But dreams come at a cost. Dorcas’ uncle, the one person she should trust, has exploited her vulnerability in exchange for school fees and basic scholastic materials. Trapped in silence, she endured for the sake of her education.
Recently, her courage emerged when a teacher noticed her withdrawal and helped her confide in a counselor at THE GOOD CHILD FOUNDATION UGANDA. With support from a small circle of well-wishers, Dorcas completed her O’Level exams with outstanding results.
However, she now faces another hurdle: raising funds for her A’Level education to continue pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor.
