Introduction:
In response to the recommendations from the Menstrual Hygiene Day Campaign 2024 by Somnia Osbrain Foundation LBG, we are launching a new initiative to empower young mothers in Abutia Hlove, Ghana. These recommendations highlighted the urgent need to extend skills training programs to young mothers, particularly those at risk of dropping out of school and facing early pregnancy.
What We Aim to Achieve:
1. Sewing Training for 25 Young Mothers: Our primary goal is to equip 25 young mothers with valuable sewing skills. By providing them with training, and training center, we hope to enable these women to generate a sustainable income, support their families, and build a brighter future.
2. Bicycles for School Access: To prevent further school dropouts and reduce the risk of early pregnancy, we plan to provide bicycles for young girls who currently walk 6km from Hlove to Kissifli to attend Junior High School. Access to reliable transportation will ensure these girls can continue their education safely and without the risk of exhaustion or danger from long commutes.
3. Educational Materials on Sexual and Reproductive Health: We recognize the importance of comprehensive education on sexual and reproductive health. Therefore, we aim to develop additional educational materials for young girls in selected schools, ensuring they have the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their health and future.
4. Follow-up Sessions: To ensure the long-term success of the program, we will conduct follow-up sessions to assess its impact. These sessions will help us understand the effectiveness of our interventions and make necessary adjustments to better serve the community.
