Update: Sailed past my initial target (thank you so much donors!) and now I have my route planned have upped my target to match my miles - £670!
In late May I will be undertaking the All Points North endurance cycling event (Rookie category) where I will attempt to cycle approximately 1080km/670miles in about 100 hours around 10 checkpoints across the north of England. Its a self-supported event, I need to plan my own route and deal with any mechanicals myself. While I have cycled quite a bit, I have never attempted anything quite like this! I'm not sure if I can do it or not, but I will give it my best shot!
I hope you might support me by donating to this fantastic project which will help 750 women and their families through self-help groups. I have seen first-hand the transformational impact this work has and your donations really will make a huge difference.
I was born in rural Tamil Nadu and these Indian villages have been part of my entire life. They are incredible places with remarkable people, but they are also places with ingrained inequalities and deprivation. I have been close to a number of projects working directly with local communities and I am now lucky enough to be Chair of Village Service Trust, a charity supporting our amazing project partners in their long-term impactful work in these communities.
Thank you and wish me luck!
