Marc Schregardus is an avid ocean swimmer based in Sydney, Australia and has recently qualified to attempt a crossing of the English Channel. He is set to swim across the channel during a window period from the 6th to the 14th of September, 2023.
Swimming across the channel that spans 21miles (about 33.7kms) is certainly not an easy feat with its notoriously cold temperature and strong tides and currents; but Marc is determined to complete the swim to support the women and girls in crisis pregnancy in Cambodia. Help Marc achieve his goal by donating generously to this campaign and achieve a target of AUD$10K.
All funds raised through the campaign will be donated 100% to the Mother's Heart Organization to support the purchase of two new vehicles, locally called tuktuks. These tuktuks are very important in Mother's Heart's work as they reach pregnant vulnerable women and girls in remote rural areas, where access to maternal and infant health services and other support are vital to their survival. These tuktuks take the women and girls to health centers and hospitals close to where they live, and allow Mother's Heart staff and partners to deliver support services to them such as counseling and mediation, legal assistance, food, among others, without the women and girls leaving their homes.
In the long-term, these tuktuks indirectly help Mother's Heart in spreading awareness about the importance of maternal and infant health, reproductive health, and access to local health systems, as well as bringing hope, and empowering women and girls so that they are well-equipped to choose a better future for themselves and their children.
