GlobalGiving + Facebook Crisis Response

Facebook’s crisis pages now feature a donate button that enables Facebook users to donate funds to support disaster recovery efforts around the world. GlobalGiving directs these funds to verified, primarily local nonprofit partner organizations in impacted areas responding to emergencies and supporting local communities. No fees are retained by either Facebook or GlobalGiving on donations made through the crisis donate button.

Facebook publishes disaster information on its Crisis Response Hub as a public service and enables crisis donate buttons in anticipation of community interest. Once a page for a disaster is launched on the Crisis Response Hub, people may be able to donate before the impact of the disaster is fully assessed. If no loss of life, injury, or damage results from a disaster, GlobalGiving will ensure crisis button donations are sent to verified, nonprofit organizations working with vulnerable and marginalized communities.

How long can I donate to a crisis through the crisis donate button?
Each crisis donate button is featured on a Facebook crisis page for a period of no more than 30 days.

I made a donation through the crisis donate button but I don’t see a project on GlobalGiving for the crisis response I donated to.
Not every responding organization is listed on the GlobalGiving website. There are two types of instances when a disaster will be featured on both the Facebook Crisis Response Hub, and GlobalGiving: (1) a GlobalGiving partner will post a disaster relief and recovery project for a crisis that is also featured on a Facebook crisis page to help raise additional funds through the GlobalGiving crowdfunding platform, and (2) GlobalGiving has launched a Disaster Fund for a crisis for which there is a Facebook crisis page.
