This sentiment was explicitly expressed in the Foundation's Constitution Act, a succinct declaration signed by 71 individuals on February 27th, 1985. The Act reflects the will of the founders and reads as follows: ¨Assured of God´s presence and patronage and under the generous reception of those who by our signature here commit ourselves, we, as members of the human family and as Christians, assume the joint responsibility of structuring a non-profit organization whose main purpose will be to help children with cancer and also their families. We will persevere with this purpose until hopefully no child is left without the best option that medicine, according to progress, can offer for the treatment and cure of this disease. We are convinced that God and Colombian society will support us in this endeavor and endorse with our signature the birth of SANAR." This historical moment is documented in the book "Science Has a Limit, Love Doesn't," published in December 2006 to commemorate the Foundation's 20th anniversary. The book includes excerpts from this declaration, along with a prologue penned by Father Javier De Nicoló, a close friend of the Foundation who has since passed away. President Luis Guillermo Ángel Correa has steadfastly upheld this foundational principle over the years. A man of unwavering faith, he has personally experienced the harrowing impact of cancer within his family, finding solace and guidance in God throughout every stage of the journey. His invaluable testimony, which we include with this document, serves as a testament to his reliance on faith in the face of adversity. During the most challenging moments, SANAR has consistently found illumination and witnessed miracles that have enabled it to persevere in its mission despite numerous obstacles. In adherence to the wishes of our founders, an annual day of rededication has been established, wherein all Foundation employees participate. This day serves as a solemn remembrance of SANAR's Christian origins, culminating in a Eucharistic celebration to express gratitude for past achievements, seek divine guidance for the upcoming year, and offer prayers for the intentions of our benefactors, collaborators, volunteers, and donors.
