Summer 2017: Focusing on Maternity Care

Our founder, Julius Achon, recently traveled to the US and Australia. His goals were to raise awareness of the struggles in Northern Uganda, and to raise critical funds required for AUCF to expand our maternity services.

Our clinic in Uwake, Otuke District, Northern Uganda, has offered very basic maternity services for over three years. But we are in the process of expanding our services, in order to meet the growing needs of the community (the average family has 8 children!). In order to be an approved maternity facility, we are required to have a full-time mid-wife, separate delivery and maternity recovery facilities, and several new pieces of equipment (ultrasound, delivery table, etc). Our goal this summer is to raise $20K in order to have these services approved and operating by Fall.

A book was recently published about Julius Achon and our charity. It can be found here

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Expanded Maternity Care is coming to Awake, Uganda

Baby delivered recently at Kristine Health Clinic
Baby delivered recently at Kristine Health Clinic

Today, safe and healthy child deliveries happen more frequently in Northern Uganda than in the past. Still, far too many babies are born malnourished, or in unsafe conditions.

Thanks to your support, AUCF is stepping up to address this persistent challenge. We have started construction on a separate, sterile maternity facility, and are hiring expert staff provide pre- and post-natal care, and to deliver healthy babies safely.

Your contributions make it possible to expand the scope of our work. Please consider supporting our expansion by donating to AUCF and the Kristina Health Clinic.

And if you're interested in learning more about our founder and Olympian Julius Achon, check out the new booked titled "The Boy Who Runs." Check it out HERE.

Thank you.

January 2017 - Expanded Services & More Patients

At AUCF, we've found that expanding the services we offer attracts more patients. And treating as many people as possible is one of our primary goals. For this reason, we've expanded our services related to maternity care and HIV/AIDS counseling. Our patient count has increased significantly over the past 4 months, in part because of these new services.

In 2017, we will continue to expand the services we offer for Maternity Care and HIV/AIDS treatment. This requires a financial investment, in order to hire and train dedicated staff and purchase the necessary equipment. Thank you for your help in making these investments.
