In the year 2011, some women pioneers drew up a groundbreaking plan to empower disadvantaged women and girls living in and around Dandora dumpsite, a sprawling dumpsite, over 30 acres, in the heart of the Nairobi slums of Korogocho, Baba Ndogo, Mathare and Dandora with a mission to giving slum women and girls voices and participation in development with regards to clean environment, health rights, education and economic empowerment enabling them lead dignified lives.
