Girls on the Run NYC provides ten weeks of results-based lessons in two seasons each year. Our physical activity-based positive youth development (PYD) program is designed to enhance girls' social, psychological and physical skills to navigate life experiences. Each season culminates in a 5K event, where girls achieve a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. As each girl crosses the finish line with Girls on the Run NYC, she's building physical, mental, and social skills that will last her a lifetime. Studies have shown that Girls on the Run's programming produces significant and lasting increases in physical activity and leadership skills. These increases are the most significant with girls who begin the program with the lowest self-reported skills and highest need.
