It has his office in Number 161 Agbani Road Enugu State, Nigeria. SIRP as a non-governmental organization was incorporated in the year 1999 in Nigeria. It pursues its mandate with a clear vision namely: "To be a civil society organization role model in providing voice and services to the less privileged and vulnerable segments of the society". Meanwhile her mission is "To promote quality services delivery that would improve the living conditions of the people, while ensuring true partnership, accountability and good governance". Our organization works in the area of poverty reduction, gender equality, youth and women empowerment, HIV and AIDS, reproductive health, environmental conservation, drug demand reduction through prevention education and awareness etc In this particular application, we will be looking at the issue of youth unemployment in Nigeria and what SIRP is currently doing through a Youth Economic Empowerment (YEE) model called U2S in addressing it. Project Problem: Currently in Nigeria, 16 million youth are unemployed and this according to the Nigerian Bureau of Statistic (NBS) amounts to 23.1% of the youth population here in Nigeria. I currently live in a community where the foregoing situation is so prevalent. In my community there is little or no jobs provided for youth. Many youth wake up in the morning without no clear plan or agenda for the day. This foregoing situation has translated into an increase in incidences of youth restiveness and youth involvement in crime in my community. Many youth who have seen there is no way out of this situation has resorted into a life of kidnapping, stealing, robbery, internet fraud, etc just to make ends meet. It is this experience that has inspired us to come up with this YEE model here in Nigeria to provide various legitimate jobs for various youth. We have simply grown tired of seeing various youth doing nothing and involving themselves in various criminal activities. Project Solution: Our proposed solution is pretty simple. U2S exists to use employment as a tool to reducing the high rate of youth restiveness and involvement in crime here in Nigeria. U2S uses an innovative YEE model in achieving this. At U2S, we are not just interested in training various unskilled and unemployed youth on various skills as other YEE models do. But we are also interested in ensuring that they find a place where they can put their skills to work, thereby leading to their financial independence. We achieve this by pairing up our trained beneficiaries with already established businesses here in Nigeria. At U2S, we define YEE as a process by which youth gain the ability not just to make decisions for themselves, but also for others around them. The foregoing definition has been guiding our activities here in Nigeria. We are currently seeing various youth who are now staying away from a life of crime simply because they are now gainfully employed.
