An update of Ludoteca Merced

Dear Community,

We want to share with you some activities that we have done in the past months.

In February, we were able to share and enjoy the end of the summer with the kid of the Ludoteca and their families. We went to the beach in the city and organize a one-day little trip to Quintay, located an hour away from Valparaiso. These activities were great for the kids and their families to enjoy the nature, good weather and vacations.

In March, we faced a new lockdown. We continue the activities with the kids with virtual workshops, preparing a theater play of the history of Valparaiso. In the rehearsals we focus on the script, music and role-playing.

The extended period in lockdown was affecting the mental health and socialization of the kids. For that reason we came with the idea of the LudoBuzón, a local mailbox. In this mailbox the kids were able to express their feelings, ideas or just tell some news to their friends. The reception of this project was great! For that reason, we’re going to continue with this idea to become a new communication tool of the neighbor.

Also the economy of the families of the Ludoteca is affected. For that reason we help the community by organizing the supplying of food and vegetables. In this way, they can access to these products easily (Ludoteca acts as a warehouse) and decreasing the price. The families are really grateful for this activity, and they want to continue despite lockdown or pandemia.

Last week, after almost two months, the authorities announced the end of lockdown. So, next week we’re going to open Ludoteca again, respecting all the security measures. We’re really happy to meet again!

Thank you all for let us help the kids of Cerro Merced

Stay safe!

Final update about the families of Valparaiso

Dear community,

Thank you for the support we have been giving to us in the last time.

As you know, the fire that affected Valparaiso in 2019 was devastating. But thanks to your help we were able to give a little bit of hope to the community of Cerro Merced. Now we’re able to say that the the families have a better situation, so the aim of this project is achieved.

We’re still helping to the community of Cerro Merced with “Make The Ludoteca Sustainable” and all the activities focused on kids and also their parents.

That’s the reason why we decided to finish this project on GlobalGiving. If you want, you can still support other causes. We have other 2 project on the website (soon it’ll be a new one!).

Thanks again for all your support.

An update of the project

Dear community,

We had some troubles with the platform, but now we’re back to tell you some news about the project.

In October 2020 we had the opportunity to create a model of Ludoteca with the collaboration of some students at a local university, specialist in mechanics and architecture.

The model represents our dream: being 100% sustainable, with feasible solutions about the use of energy and water.

This Ludoteca looks to be built in a collaborative way, so the community of Valparaiso will be involved with the space and different strategies to make it sustainable. It’s going to be an excellent opportunity to bring education about the importance of being responsible about the use of resources, especially water in our country. We're facing a very long drought with serious problems in agriculture, so we need to take care of it and be part of the solution, especially kids and future generations.

Thanks for all your support. Stay safe!
