Established in 2000, Appleseeds Academy aims to bridge social and economic gaps in Israel through technology - as Israel's high-tech industry booms in certain parts of the country, those in weaker communities get left behind. To answer this need, Appleseeds provides professional training, educational programming and hands-on personal development and social intervention opportunities for underserved populations in Israel. -Appleseeds runs multiple, nation-wide programs, from the predominantly Jewish town of Kiryat Shmona in the North, to the mixed Jewish-Arab city of Ramle, to the Arab town of Yarka, to Eilat in the South. -Appleseeds is certified by leading international high-tech companies such as Intel, Microsoft, Cisco, and Google. -Most Apppleseeds programs include social components that emphasize study skills, personal empowerment and development, leadership, and community engagement. -Appleseeds adopts a multi-sector approach to partnerships, working closely with businesses, government and other Jewish and Arab non-profit organizations to ensure broad impact and sustainability. Through its team of 250 instructors, Appleseeds Academy has touched the lives of 10% of Israel's diverse, multi-cultural population. Appleseeds Academy places particular emphasis on community involvement, and our participants volunteer with the aim of promoting technological education, professional vocational training and social leadership skills within their communities -actively promoting a wider "ripple effect".
