Report being handed over to a parent .
Report being handed over to a parent .
Summer, the time of mangoes and sweltering heat brings with it at Rasa , a time for taking stock , assessment and then rest and rejuvenation before the Centres get back to action .
This summer saw the Facilitators assess the children and handover their reports - progress to their parents .
This yearly reports helps the facilitator and the centre heads take stock of what is going right and what issues need progress and additional work on !
Summer times is also the time that individuals take time to enjoy and pursue their passions with a sense of ease with all the time available .
Prashant as seen in the video is a great fan of Gymming and Mukund has spent his holidays doing some colouring work.
What’s more , sometimes holiday activities are also given by the facilitators at the Centres to keep the kids happy and going till the centre’s re open in June .as is evident from the photos attached .
PFA a sample report which goes out to the parents at the end of the year which shows the goals targeted ,also achieved and worked towards through the year .
Yet another year has gone by with focus and attention on people with special needs their individual progress and special plans for each one of them.

RASA CELEBRATES - SPORS DAY AND ITS ANNUAL DAY

Archana sports day
Archana sports day

'The proof of the pudding is in the eating said someone". We at RASA, showcase our work through the "action" that we do, which is up for display.

RASA is known to spread Indian culture and heritage not once or twice but several times a day in a year by organising SPORTS DAY , AND ITS MEGA ANNUAL DAY.

The Mandavalli and Tiruvanmyur centres celebrated their sports day on March 7th 2019.

At both the centres, the faciliators designed special games which the students can participate in and enjoy as well as learn.

At sports day at Mandavalli centre, three events were conducted.

1. Throwing the ball in the basket.

2. Filling water in another bucket without spilling.

3. Ringing the object.

Among the many happy laughs and truimpthant grins , there evolved many a champions. Some of them have been captured in the pics below.

This year, like every year the past 30 the years, the very special artistes of RASA, put up a mega show with"ARULIN MAZHAI' as the theme. &

Stories of different saints from various parts of India and how the divine voice inside them helped them make an appropirate decision at the right time, which eventually leads to spiritual awareness and in moving  towards a higher path.

The storeis widely researched , are toned down to help people with special needs understand the processes and enjoy being a part of the mega production.

Around 250 people with special needs from various special schools in Chennai came together to make this offering and enjoy the process as well.

Without fail everytime , our children never fail to help us understand and explore the concepts with them and thereby initiate a process of learning, motivation and awarenss.

Signing off for now.

Looking forward to the continued support of you and your other contacts to help us help others better.

You take away all the other luxuries in life, and if you can make someone smile and laugh, you have given the most special gift: happiness.

 Brad Garrett

This is what we strive to do at RASA – Centre for Theatre Arts and Special Needs day after day, year after year, the past 30 years.

Here is a tiny preview of how an adult with special needs engages her time and skills at our vocational centre at Tiruvanmyur.

Here is a small write up about R:

R is very good in production . She is    a quick learner and assists everyone when they need help. She is very systematic and meticulous and is very concerned about the environment. She always checks if the lights have been turned off, if other adults in the group have brought their tea cups  and also sometimes aides the Facilitator by reminding the agenda for the next day. She loves to do yoga sessions and does them passionately.
R loves production work, here are some of the things she is good at.
Embroidery - Running stitch , flying stitch , hemming
Beaded jewellery - s pattern and cluster pattern (yet to learn other patterns )
Painting - capable of following the instructions precisely and replicate the given design.
Making thread beads - she is good at making beads using the embroidery threads.
Please find below a picture of the green beaded necklace made by R. It is very fine work and calls for meticulous and systematic observation and commitment.

N, another male  adult who is very dexterous shows his skills and prowess at arts by these beautiful warli paintings

At our Mandavalli centre too, the  commitment to production is no less. There is a lot of emphasis given to life skills and also to production. Here you can see L printing and helping make brightly coloured envelopes requested by the RASA Accounts Head Mr. VijayKumar.
