As a Christian community based, non-governmental organization motivated by Christ's compassion to work for the poorest of the poor, MDF seeks to mitigate the effects of poverty in the much remote rural communities affecting the target group using a holistic approach involving the whole family This organization was brought about by among other causes HIV/AIDS, adverse climatic changes such as global warming, drought, deteriorating economic conditions in the country, political policies and governance etc. MDF looks at both spiritual and psychosocial support of the families involved in the program cutting across, political, religious, and ethnic and gender barriers. MDF's approach by focusing on the child and its family is developed out of the belief that every child has a right to life and education among other rights. It is our belief that households and communities in which children are raised are responsible for the children's well-being and are best suited to manage a child's development process. Thus, our approach by focusing at developing the child and household in the environment in which the child growths through psychosocial support, education support, agriculture, health care, income generation, HIV/AIDS support and water and sanitation support. MDF cooperates with government, Christian organisations, Non Faith Organisations, Community Based Organisations (CBOs), Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Business houses with similar vision in addressing, besides other community development issues: - 1. Advocacy against injustices 2. Poverty reduction issues 3. Environmental Protection Organization Vision:- MDF envision a transformed community with no poverty and illiteracy free amongst the less privileged in Society. Organization Mission:- To help the most rural communities reduce poverty and ensure an educated self-reliant community with food and income secure household in an HIV/AIDS free environment Organization goal:- Poverty eradication, economic and social empowerment and support focused on children, orphans and their families in a sustainable family and community holistic approach. Objectives of the organisation:- 1. To improve primary health care and support and contribute to the reduction of the spread of HIV/AIDS for strategic groups: widow/grandmothers, youths, OVC, PLWHA and high risk groups such as people with disabilities, Albinos and fishermen. 2. Contribute to the improvement of the availability of adequate clean and safe drinking water, sanitation services and promote hygiene practices in schools and communities in order to reduce diarrhea diseases 3. Contribute to the improvement of the provision of care, support and access to basic education for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in schools and communities. 4. To promote environmental regeneration, protection, conservation and sustainable land management 5. To empower women in rural communities by increasing their household incomes through sustainable Livelihoods, Micro Enterprise Development, Savings in Internal Lending Communities (SILC). 6.
