Precious Shiny Getting Better and Stronger
July and August saw an unprecedented increase in the number of rescues at Humane Animal Society which proved both challenging and rewarding. Challenging, as we struggled to cope with the influx; and rewarding, as many of them responded and rebounded miraculously. The remarkable stories of Shiny, Simran, Suki, Pogo and Weezer were made possible only because of your thoughtful donations. While Suki was successful in finding her forever home and loving family, rest of our rescues have become permanent residents of our sanctuary.
Shiny came to us suffering from severe trauma to the head, and for the first week she would simply walk around in circles and cry when we touched her. It was indeed a sad sight to watch her continuously circling inside the cage. She was completely unaware of her surroundings and did not respond to voices. Thanks to your generous donation, we were able to give her all the medical care and attention that we could. We are happy to say that she has made tremendous progress. She no longer circles, but stands up and can eat solid food all on her own. Not only that, now she happily spends her days slowly exploring the surroundings and enjoys curling up for a siesta in our volunteer room. Her vision is still partial, however, we are optimistic of her making further progress. Thanks to you, even if nobody came to adopt her, she will have a forever home at the sanctuary.
Simran and Pogo were road traffic accident victims right during their puppyhood. Your generous donation of 50 USD each has helped to cover their medical expenses for a month. They are suffering from spinal injuries and thanks to you, we have been able to get flotation vests which has enabled life-saving hydro-therapy for them. With your help and generosity, we can give life-saving treatment and therapy to many more pups in need. Your 20 USD donation will help us procure a flotation vest for one differently abled rescue animal.
Weezer came in with intense pain, paralyzed with fear, screaming non stop and struggling to breathe and we all thought that she wasn't long for this world. With a deep bite wound on her neck, we don't know how long she had been lying suffering before she was found. Next came the potentially deadly disease of parvo which is easily spread among young ones with poor immune systems, followed by a skin infection and then pyrexia. Overcoming every single hurdle, now, this happy, healthy teenager gambols around the shelter like a newly born foal, unsteady on her long legs but full of confidence and very much loved by all. While she does have some mild scarring from a skin infection, and weakness in her hind legs, she is ready to be adopted and we are waiting for the lucky family who can claim her as their own!
Suki was rescued as a helpless pup. With her unusual markings and cautious personality, she attracted lot of attention - but not so much to help her get adopted soon enough. She was under our care for more than a month and grew healthy and confident in the mean time. Your donation helped us care for her until a great family came forward to adopt her. We were happy to see her find her forever home and are deeply thankful for your support in helping us make a positive change in her life.
Our heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to your kindness and compassion. Please do share the word and help us get more animals on their feet!
