Leadership Trainings Go Virtual!

During the pandemic, we've been intentional in providing support through virtual trainings to continue developing the leadership of our scholars. Recently, we held a Leadership Lab in Kenya to train survivor-leaders on Creative Storytelling. The session was facilitated by a Freely in Hope alumni who is currently working in New York City! She shared about her storytelling journey and provided creative writing exercises for our leaders to share together. The leaders practiced sharing their stories through writing letters and describing what liberation looks like for them. We love seeing our alumni give back to our community of scholars even from a distance.

Back to school!

Last week, all 28 of our Freely in Hope scholars went back to school! During the school break, scholars participated in our annual retreat to reconnect, grow, and learn with each other. As the school schedule has been modified as a result of the pandemic, they are excited and eager to return to school for a new term and continue excelling academically. During the pandemic, many of our scholars increased a grade! Going back to school is very important for our scholars because they know what it's like to be forced to go home because they hadn't paid for their school fees. As a donor, your support makes their journey seamless so that they can achieve their academic dreams!

Welcoming a new cohort!

Though the pandemic has set us back in reopening our programs, we are continuing to serve the Malkia women in new and exciting ways! Our Malkia program provides a safe space for women in prostitution to lead in their places of work and explore their dream careers through our trainings. We have modified our ways of connecting through outdoor gatherings, consistent phone calls, and referrals for alternative work.

Ten of previous graduates are now part of an entrepreneurship training with a partnering organization and we are excited to welcome ten new women into the 2021 cohort! Through your support of our program, we are able to expand and support more women to thrive in their vocation.
