Wipe her tears.

Dear Donors,

It is great news that all our children in the coaching class in Kodappu and Kajapet are entering the next academic year this June. 51 children were being coached in our coaching classes and all of them have been promoted. Of these children, 2 girls and 2 boys wrote their High School Board exams. They passed with  43% of marks (on an average) and are going to the Higher Secondary School now.

Of the 4 children who wrote their Board exams, Jillu (name changed), 15 years, scored 63% of marks. Her mother died a few years ago. Her father got remarried and does not take care of the Jillu. Jillu has two sisters. Both of them are married. Her elder sister, who is a coolie, is taking care of Jillu.  Though she is living in a difficult circumstance, Jillu wants to study more. She wants to become a policewoman. Dear donors, her dream can come true only with your support.  Help us wipe her tears.

May was the vacation for the children. During this month they were motivated to borrow more books from the mobile library and read books of varied nature.  A meeting was held in Kodappu for the members and non-members of the mobile library on 29th April 2019. Five of the members volunteered to share their experience with the mobile library with others.

One of the members who is a schoolboy studying 9th standard shared how his vocabulary in English is developed after joining the library. Two of the girls shared about interesting incidents in the lives of two great leaders, that inspired them.

During this quarter, we are planning to take the children on exposure visit. We need $300 for this. Also, we need a minimum of $300 to pay for two coaching class teachers salary.  We received $100 during the last quarter which is insufficient. Dear donors, we could run the programme only with your generous donations. Kindly keep supporting these children, who strive hard to overcome their oddities. Please keep spreading words about our project and the poor children who are being supported by us.

We thank you once again for supporting us.

With regards

Jillu

He is trained to speak well

Children in the early learning centre
Children in the early learning centre

Dear Donors,

Nitin (name changed) was in a children's home since he is parentless. He is adopted by Uma and Ram (names changed) when he was one and a half years old. They do not have a child of their own. Ram his adopted father drinks, roams, flirts, fights with his wife, etc. Uma was peace less and in her search for happiness, Nitin was adopted. Nitin is 3 years old now.

He was admitted to the early learning centre before a year. He is a slow learner and could speak only a few words. Hence he is being given special care to speak. The teacher spends additional time to make him speak like other children of his age. This is possible as New Life assess the skills of the children in various aspects at the time of admitting them and after that in quarterly intervals. Based on the assessment, parents are also taught simple techniques to improve their skill.

During this quarter, we got a few donations from our local supporters. One of the donors prepared food for the children and served it to them on her son's birthday. We thank you all for assuring us that you are with us in this project and are with our children.

Dear Donors, the above-said interventions are possible only with the donations you generously make. Kindly continue supporting our cute children, to develop their skills and to have a nutritious food (one time a day). Please keep spreading words about our project and the wonderful children it supports. Your words carry weight and it will motivate your friends and relatives to feed and educate these children.

Thanking you for your continued support.

With regards

Experiences Shared with Others

Dear Donors,

A meeting was held in Kodappu for the members and non-members of the mobile library on 29th April 2019. Five of the members volunteered to share their experience with the mobile library with others.

One of the members who is a schoolboy studying 9th standard shared how his vocabulary in English is developed after joining the library. Two of the girls shared about interesting incidents in the lives of two great leaders, that inspired them too.

Two college boys shared their experience with the library. One of them, studying the first year under graduation in Commerce, shared how he is gaining maximum utility by referring to varied books for his subjects as well as knowledge. He also shared that he mainly picks up books of non-fiction to not get diverted from his studies.

The meeting was a grand success and the non-member attendees said that they would like to join the library. Our coaching class children are enjoying reading more books during these months as this is the summer holiday for them.

Few more books are added during this quarter to the collection. Thank you, dear donors, for helping us to create a wonderful resource for our children.

With regards
