At the age of approximately 6 years old the children are returned to live with a family member. In the past 23 years the lives of over 200 babies have been saved. So far 50 children have successfully gone through NOTDEC's care and are now in employment. Currently there are 170 children from the age of a few weeks to 20+ years receiving support from NOTDEC. Our mission is also, when needed, to help the families of these children by providing safe water, solar electricity, toilets, bedding and occasionally building a complete house so the children can thrive in their family home. NOTDEC Uganda has 30 Ugandan staff. NOTDEC UK trustees and volunteers visit NOTDEC Uganda when possible once or twice a year. Internet meetings between NOTDEC UK trustees and NOTDEC Uganda management staff occur weekly to help resolve issues.
