The NGO is committed in the long term to bringing together all conservation stakeholders and collaborate with government agencies and local indigenous communities to more effectively protect the binturong in Southeast Asia. We seek to ensure the successful survival, protection, and conservation of the binturong in the wild. To achieve this, ABConservation has three missions: Study the binturong (through in situ and ex situ research projects) to enhance knowledge about its specificities and its conservation status. Raise public and community awareness about the binturong and the importance of its protection. Protect the binturong by strengthening conservation of wild populations and their habitats, enhancing management of the species in zoos, and taking action against the trade in binturongs. Under these missions' scope, the main goals are: To improve knowledge about wild binturongs' ecology and behaviour to enhance their conservation, and enhance their well-being in zoos. To bring the binturong in the spotlight to raise awareness of the need to preserve it and increase the involvement of government agencies, local communities and younger generations. To take action against the trade in binturongs to inspire collective efforts to change laws and regulations relating to exotic pets and animal exploitation.
