We aim to support teachers and educational institutions through policy advocacy, as well as the development and dissemination of localized, culturally-relevant and inclusive gender equity education materials. ------------- TGEEA is dedicated to the following endeavors: ------------- ■ Gender justice outreach programs for teachers, students and parents at various levels of education. ■ Research and development of instructional materials and effective strategies for gender equity education. ■ Coordination with schools, local governments, and the Ministry of Education to ensure the official implementation of the Gender Equity Education Act (2004). In addition, TGEEA has worked to establish and grow an international network of educators and activists, through which we promote professional development opportunities, as well as the sharing of resources and information between schoolteachers, social activists, and other nonprofits - both in Taiwan and abroad - that share our mission. Since 2010, TGEEA been a key collaborator, along with local scholars, experts, human rights organizations and the national government, in regular reviews of Taiwan's implementation of International Human Rights Conventions. This involves producing independent reports and providing our expertise in conferences on CEDAW, CRC, ICCPR and ICESCR. Currently, TGEEA is completing a comprehensive review of sexuality education policies and practices in Taiwanese primary schools, set to be published in 2023. In recent years, Taiwan has witnessed a growing opposition to gender-inclusive education, particularly from religious right groups, as has been the case globally. Such opposition has created a homophobic and hateful environment in schools and in society. This is why TGEEA's mission is more important than ever. Believing in the power of education, TGEEA strives to foster a more equitable and inclusive Taiwan for all.
