Expand Dell EMC's existing onboarding and service anniversary recognition programs

Dell EMC is a global leader in information technology as a service (ITaaS). Dell EMC employs 70,000 people worldwide and is represented by approximately 400 sales offices and scores of partners in 86 countries. As a leadership company, Dell EMC understands the importance of employee engagement. In 2017, Dell EMC was recognized by the Great Place To Work Institute as a top 25 global Great Place To Work.

As part of its employee engagement strategy, Dell EMC launched its Giving Back initiative in 2014 and began looking for ways to:

• Provide employees with opportunities to become more engaged in its philanthropic efforts;
• Enhance its existing service anniversary recognition program and welcome new employees to the company; and
• Align employee appreciation with its support of education, food, water, and disaster relief causes.

The Solution

A custom employee recognition and onboarding program that empowers employees to give to projects in 175+ countries

Dell EMC and GlobalGiving partnered to build custom solutions to engage employees and ensure a successful program:

• GlobalGiving customized Dell EMC eCards for service anniversaries and new hires.

  Each month, new hires and employees celebrating a service anniversary are sent a $25 Dell EMC-branded gift card with custom messaging and instructions for redeeming the card on www.globalgiving.org/emc. Dell EMC provides the email addresses, design assets, and messaging, and GlobalGiving takes care of the rest.

• GlobalGiving built a customized Dell EMC landing page featuring projects around the world.

  GlobalGiving not only recommended partner organizations, but also vetted and onboarded Dell EMC-nominated organizations to be featured on a custom Dell EMC-branded landing page. The page features projects that employees can choose from when redeeming their gift cards, as well as key program statistics such as top projects and countries funded.

• GlobalGiving provides gift card redemption reports and employee feedback.

  To help Dell EMC measure the impact of its program on employees and nonprofits around the world, GlobalGiving provides quarterly redemption reports that detail the allocations made by employees. GlobalGiving also curates feedback provided by employees as part of the giving process.

The Results

A program that links philanthropy with employee appreciation while making a global impact

Through its employee engagement and onboarding program with GlobalGiving, this past year:

• 42,000 Dell EMC employees have redeemed more than $1,400,000 in gift cards.

  Giving employees the power to choose which projects to support has been a great way to get them engaged with the program.

• 2,170 organizations with work in more than 153 countries have received funding.

  The program's impact has truly been global, as employees have chosen to allocate their funds to organizations around the world in support of a wide range of project themes, from education to disaster recovery.

• Dell EMC's contributions are leveraged for impact.

  Funds from unredeemed cards are used for additional grantmaking (at Dell EMC's discretion) and incentive campaigns. In these incentive campaigns, for every $1 Dell EMC has contributed, donors have given an average of $8, amplifying Dell EMC's impact.

• Dell EMC employees have expressed how proud they are to work for their company.
