The Climate Action Fund: A new approach

There are many worthy organizations doing vital work to combat climate change around the world with a wide range of strategies—advocating for legislation, launching social enterprises, raising awareness—all of which are vitally important. However, we’ve seen that solutions led by the communities most affected by climate change are often the most overlooked. And with the impacts of climate change being felt differently around the world, it’s imperative to invest in the local leaders most familiar with the challenges facing their communities.

Meet Local Leaders

Give monthly + get matched!

The goal of the Climate Action Fund is to provide ongoing funding that local leaders can count on to drive their work, which is why a generous anonymous donor has agreed to match 100% of new monthly donations to the Fund. For example, if you set up a new $25 monthly donation, an additional $25 will be donated to the Climate Action Fund.

How nonprofits are selected for the Climate Action Fund

The GlobalGiving community is home to organizations fighting climate change at all levels. Each Earth Day, we invite them to compete for a year-long spot in the Climate Action Fund.

In GlobalGiving’s inaugural Climate Fund Campaign, organizations protecting the planet in over 40 countries participated. Out of 161 projects, five were selected to receive year-long funding.

You can support the current Climate Action Fund cohort and help select the next cohort in April! Mark your calendars for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, 2020, and join GlobalGiving in uplifting local leaders taking on the global challenge of our time.
