We provide free equine-assisted therapy for Bulgarian children with disabilities and their parents. Our 5 therapy horses work alongside trained staff to offer riding therapy, ground therapy, and emotional support sessions. Everything is funded by supporters like you. Horse therapy is a proven rehabilitation method, but not offered by the Bulgarian state. After losing our main funding, our programs are paused. Your donation restarts free sessions and brings hope back to local families.
Bulgaria offers no state support for equine-assisted therapy. Families of children with disabilities face social exclusion and constant financial pressure. Very few programs exist outside Sofia - and none in rural areas like ours. When we lost our main funding, we had to pause sessions. Running a therapy program takes more than horses. It requires trained facilitators, session planning, insurance, equipment, and constant communication with families. The horses are ready. The families are waiting.
Your donation restarts free therapy sessions. Each is tailored to the child: some ride, some work with horses on the ground, some simply breathe in nature. Our 5 Paint Horses were chosen for calm, sensitive temperaments - Sdendo carries children with patience, Hidalgo leads ground therapy, Sheza works with those having emotional challenges. In 2026, we added sessions for the exhausted parents - a parent who is cared for returns home with more patience, more energy, and more hope for their child.
Every child in horse therapy takes something home that no medicine provides: a sense of independence, calm, and connection. This happens over time. Parents report that their children are calmer, more willing to try new things, and more connected to the world around them. The new parent sessions amplify this - a mother who has rest returns home with patience and hope. Our goal: reach 50 children and parents a year, and build a model other Bulgarian organizations can learn from.
