GlobalGiving sends funds to both multinational organizations and local nonprofits to support immediate disaster response efforts. In the longer term, they work mostly with local nonprofits to rebuild and develop affected areas. Their experience has shown that established, local organizations continue afterward to contribute to the community’s transition from recovery to reconstruction to development. All of the organizations are vetted by GlobalGiving to establish their legitimate, charitable status wherever they are registered.
