Dow and GlobalGiving Disaster Relief

Natural and man-made disasters such as floods, wildfires, hurricanes or acts of terrorism can have catastrophic implications on society. These events can seriously disrupt the functioning of a community and cause human, material, economic or environmental losses that exceed a community’s ability to cope using its own resources.

Whether in the immediate aftermath of a disaster or year-round, Dow’s focus is on supporting sustainable communities—doing our part to make the communities where Dow people live and work healthy, vibrant, and resilient places to be.

The reason for these efforts is simple: As a science and technology company, our ability to drive innovation to help address many of the world’s most challenging problems is rooted in the health and safety of our employees and neighbors, and the economic vibrancy of our communities.

In response to the widespread devastation caused by bushfires across Australia, Dow Australia in partnership with the Dow Company Foundation announced the allocation of $25,000 (USD) to the Australian Red Cross and employee engagement opportunities to support immediate relief associated with the fires and its aftermath.

As a part of this commitment, Dow has established an Employee Match Program via GlobalGiving to raise critical funds for Australia relief organizations and to respond to employee requests for how they can help and personally contribute. Dow will be matching up to $10,000 USD.
