The ZooSchool program will begin this fall and the zoo education staff has worked with local schools to establish the curriculum. The 3rd grade students will focus on learning about life cycles. This program will increase access for students to these stellar educational school field trips. ZooSchool programs offers students the opportunity to engage with zoo educators, participate in interactive activities and observe live animals first-hand. Lessons enhance student learning and are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards and Oregon Social Studies Standards.
The Oregon Zoo's new Education Center which opened in March 2017 is home to the Insect Zoo. At the Insect Zoo guests can explore the fascinating world of insects, arachnids and other arthropods, and discover that small things matter. This is where the students will learn about the life cycle of insects. The program is also enhanced with pre-and-post trip activities.
The Oregon Zoo hopes to expand the reach of ZooSchool and make these impactful field trips accessible to many more students who otherwise would not be able to participate. As a Global Giving donor, you are a key partner in this success – thank you!
