Free Access to Consultations and Medical Tests Project

Responsible Organization: Instituto Horas da Vida

Funding Platform: GlobalGiving

Implementation Location: Communities in São Paulo

1. Project Summary

The project aimed to expand healthcare access for socially vulnerable individuals by providing free medical consultations, tests, and health guidance.

Funds received through GlobalGiving made it possible to reduce financial barriers and facilitate care for people facing difficulties in accessing essential health services.

2. Activities Carried Out

During the period, the following actions were undertaken:

  • mobilization and registration of beneficiaries;
  • screening of health needs;
  • scheduling of medical consultations;
  • performance of laboratory and imaging tests;
  • patient guidance;
  • referral for continued treatment, when necessary;
  • follow-up on priority cases.

3. Use of Funds

Funds were used exclusively for activities outlined in the project, including:

  • payment for consultations and tests;
  • transportation or travel for beneficiaries, where applicable;
  • care-related materials;
  • mobilization and communication;
  • operational and logistical support;
  • monitoring and follow-up of care provided.

4. Impact Generated

The project contributed to early diagnosis, the prevention of complications, and continuity of care. Many beneficiaries were able to undergo necessary consultations and tests to monitor their health—some for the first time, others after long waiting periods.

Beyond direct care, the initiative strengthened the local care network and increased participants' knowledge regarding prevention, self-care, and the importance of medical monitoring.

5. Next Steps

Following the completion of this phase, we have organized the following actions:

  • follow-up on referred beneficiaries;
  • expansion of the network of partner professionals and laboratories;
  • strengthening of prevention initiatives;
  • seeking new funding to serve other communities; 9. Acknowledgments

We thank GlobalGiving and all the donors who made this project possible. Every contribution was transformed into consultations, medical tests, diagnoses, and concrete care opportunities for people facing barriers to healthcare access.
