Beyond cleaning: empowering mothers through litera

By Antony P. Gomez | Project Leader

We are proud to present our first progress report for the project "500 Mothers Turn 10 Tons of Waste into Livelihood." During this initial phase, we have focused on a comprehensive literacy and training program designed to dignify and professionalize the recycling labor of the women in our community. We believe that true conservation begins with knowledge, and our workshops have become a space for growth and empowerment.

The mothers have participated in specialized training sessions where they learn to manage waste from a more technical and integrated perspective. Beyond simple collection, we are providing them with key skills to transform the materials they recover, such as plastic and fibers, into high-quality handicrafts.

This training not only helps protect the mangroves but also opens new doors for sustainable income through artistic creation. Your support is turning environmental awareness into tangible tools for life and community entrepreneurship. Thank you for making this education possible!

Furthermore, we continue to improve our techniques for creating beautiful handcrafted pieces, which we have already managed to sell in many places. Many people are enthusiastic about the things these wonderful women have been able to create. As you can see in the photo below, this tourist was delighted with our products. She bought many and is becoming a great ally in helping us reach other regions. She was very impressed with the recycling and reuse work of these mothers, who are truly resilient.
