Celebrating Our Preschool Graduates

By Yolanda Utami Nilasari | Project Leader

Graduation Ceremony - Class of 2025-2026
Graduation Ceremony - Class of 2025-2026

This June was such a special month for YUM's Early Childhood Learning Centre in Cipanas, West Java — we celebrated 20 preschoolers graduating and getting ready to take their next big step into primary school! The graduation ceremony was full of joy, with students, parents, teachers, and YUM staff all coming together at the YUM Community Centre in Cipanas, West Java, to celebrate.

The day kicked off with a traditional Sundanese welcoming procession called Mapag Panganten, setting a festive tone right from the start. After some warm opening remarks from the Preschool Principal and a touching speech from one of the parents, it was time for the kids to shine. And shine they did! The children showed off their confidence and creativity through traditional and modern dances, group singing, and even an angklung performance. Parents and YUM staff got in on the fun too, with a special performance of their own that made the whole event even more heartwarming.

To wrap things up, each graduate received their certificate and medal! The celebration ended with a group photo and plenty of warm goodbyes, as families marked this exciting milestone in their children's lives. This special occasion reflected not only the children's learning and personal growth, but also the strong partnership between families, teachers, and the YUM community in giving every child a positive start in life.

Mrs. Herti, the mother of CI, shared her thoughts on her daughter's experience at the YUM Preschool:

"We are very grateful that CI had such a wonderful experience at YUM Preschool. She learned through play in a fun and supportive environment. During her time at YUM, she became more independent, active, and confident.  The teachers were always patient, caring, and supportive. We are delighted that she is now ready to continue her education at primary school. Thank you for giving her such a strong foundation."

None of this would be possible without your incredible support. Because of your generosity, these 20 children had the chance to learn, grow, and build the foundation they need for a bright future — and countless more children will have that same opportunity in the years ahead. We're so grateful for your continued partnership, and we hope you'll keep walking alongside us as we help even more children take their first steps toward a positive, promising start in life.

*Mapag Panganten is a traditional Sundanese welcoming ceremony that literally means "welcoming the bride and groom.
