This project will empower more than 10,000 young people in Devashtich District of Tajikistan through their access to sports activities. To this end, the project will renovate and equip the Sports Center of Devashtich District. The project will promote healthy lifestyle through sports among the youth. It will also prevent the youth from radicalization and influence of extremist and terrorist groups operating through social media.
The youth in Devashtich district do not have access to sports exercises due to the lack of an adequate sports facilities. The sports facilities to be renovated within this project was constructed in 1970s and has not seen any major renovation since its inception. It is now outdated and almost out of operation, which is not safe for going into sports. The youth do not have any place to go into sports and they can easily be influenced by extremist groups if they do not have anything to be engaged
The project will improve the access to sports facilities and exercises for more than 10,000 young people in the administrative center of Devashtich District by renovating and equipping the only sports facility in this area. By doing so, the project will create a favorable environment for the youth of the district to be engaged in sports, and prevent them from being influenced and recruited by various extremist and terrorist groups actively recruiting young vulnerable people through social media.
The young people will be engaged in sports, motivated for healthy lifestyle. They will be motivated to make career in sports and promote the values of peace and co-existence through sports. It will also prevent radicalization of young people and their recruitment by various extremist and terrorist groups.
