Growing Health, Hope, and a Greener Haiti
World Nature Conservation Day, July 28th, reminds us that protecting our environment is essential to building healthy communities and a sustainable future. In Haiti, where climate change, food insecurity, and environmental degradation are deeply connected, caring for the land is also an investment in the health and well-being of children and families.
Through FAHM's Youth Changing Haiti One Tree at a Time program, young people learn about sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, healthy relationships, and environmental stewardship. As part of the program, participants receive fruit and vegetable trees to plant in their communities, helping to improve nutrition, strengthen food security, and restore the environment.
Since the program began in April 2023, youth participants have planted more than 680 trees, including mango, avocado, breadfruit, moringa, coconut, and other fruit-bearing varieties. Each tree represents more than environmental action—it represents hope, resilience, and a commitment to a healthier Haiti.
