Dear friends,
In that warm summer day we want to share our great news with you and tell you more about all youth clubs, which were established within the framework of “Youth 4 Youth” project. As you probably remember the overall project objective is to empower disadvantaged youth to serve as the agents of social change for their peers and communities. And after the year of youth clubs functioning there are a real significant changes in every participants’ life. More than 300 young people, 22 youth trainers, 15 cities, 12 regions of Ukraine – these are the results of the project year. Finalizing the year, Partnership for Every Child team met some youth trainers and youth clubs participants on the grant Summer school on 11-13 June 2015. Those were really incredible 3 days together, full of fun, joy, happiness and the best-practices sharing.
At his introductory speech Igor Nosach, Youth4Youth Project Manager, said:” It is a cliché to say that the future belongs to the youth, but few clichés ring as true as this one. Youth development is a key issue and will always remain so. Each youth club has developed its own initiatives when it comes to youth development and there is a lot to learn from each other on this front. We just helped disadvantaged youth to move forward their dreams and give them the knowledge in leadership and social rights. The youth sector would certainly benefit from a more coordinated approach, in particular in area of social changes”.
On the grant Summer school young people shared their experience and successes, spent time together, gained some new skills and, for sure, they also made new friends from different parts of Ukraine. The Summer school program was full of various activities: Quest “How to become successful?”, sport games and competitions on the water, reflections and conversations around the campfire, a wide variety of master classes from the youth trainers, disco and photos-quest for knowledge of the social rights along the central streets of Kyiv. Also youth had interesting informal conversation with guests from the Embassy of Finland, who shared their own experience and career tips & tricks. We hope the photos will help you to experience it more fully.
You will find more information of the youth clubs in the presentation below.
And as the final flourish of our today report we ask you to enjoy a video, made by participants of “Alternative” youth club from Dnipropetrovsk city. It will show you brightly how was it all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY9S58hX8hE
On behalf of all the young people from Youth 4 Youth Project, we send our warmest thanks for your generosity and continuous support of this project. We really sure that Margaret Mead was totally right by saying: “Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have”. There is a lot of work ahead and a lot of young people, who need well-timed support. Without exaggeration, by preparing disadvantaged youth as the leaders today, we can create a real impact for a better tomorrow.
New and existing youth clubs will re-open on September 2015 and invite more young people to develop thei life skills, to learn and exercise their social rights, to find new friends, to define and decide on their future, and to share experiences with peers.
To make the next round of achievements possible we would appreciate your further support to this project! And please do remember that on July 15 at Bonus Day your donations become bigger thanks to match from GlobalGiving!
