50% of refugees are helped by the Red Cross
Red Cross aid for 650,000 people Every other refugee has received help from the Red Cross along the journey from their homeland to their arrival in Europe. More than 650,000 people have received medical care and more than 8.9 million meals, over 1.8 million blankets or warm items of clothing have been distributed. In the five years up to the great migration of autumn 2015, the Swiss Red Cross spent over CHF 7 million, mostly directly in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey, but also in Italy and Bulgaria, to help the refugees. We now plan to spend another CHF 5 million to extend the aid we provide in Lebanon and Syria and to help displaced persons on the move.
The SRC remains committed for as long as help is needed
No end to the war in Syria is in sight even after five years. Those braving life in Syria and those who have fled still rely on humanitarian aid. Children are among the most vulnerable refugees. So, the Swiss Red Cross is continuing to develop its aid programme.

Thanks to your support, displaced persons will be provided with the bare essentials: protection, shelter, food and water, as well as first aid and medical care. In the field in Lebanon, along the migration routes and in Switzerland.
