THE POWER OF THE YOUNG: SOCIAL AGENTS OF CHANGE IN IRAQ
BAORD supports 24 young community leaders in different parts of Iraq Region in Iraq. Parts that were deeply affected by ISIS brutalities and the ensuing military operations. In their communities they help younger generations to deal with everyday challenges and insecurity. Like sexual harassment, drug addiction and youth unemployment. They build pockets of trust and cohesion in environments that are still – two years after the military defeat of ISIS – very much ruled by fear, distrust and a depressing lack of opportunities.

Among its activities, our organization carried out educating more than 25 young people about peace, renouncing violence and extremism, and living in peace away from violence. The program was one of the good programs that young people welcomed, as they were involved with government agencies and society. They were happy and implemented tree planting programs in areas destroyed as a result of desertification.
