The Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) coordinated and facilitated the endorsement of relief food supplies to eight (8) partner organizations in National Capital Region (NCR) and two (2) provinces namely Batangas and Quezon of the affected families due to Typhoon Glenda. A total of 1112 families received the relief assistance.

COSCA also conducted and facilitated training on community-based disaster risk management to five barangays in Tubabao, Island, Guian, Eastern Samar.

The Center also conducted and facilitated training needs assessment on Community-based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) in Lian, Batangas. The fishers and other service sector of the community expressed their concerns in implementing alternative livelihood activities to augment their family income. The MDRRMC recommended to Brgy Chairman of six (6) coastal communities to display signage in the area. Prepare, plan and coordinate with the potential partners in the community disaster trainings. The MENRO suggested the identification of possible livelihood based on the availability of community resources. Majority of the barangay chairman agreed on the recommendation however financial limitation hinders the procurement of the signage. The following were the future plans of the project in Lian: 1). Determine the target timeline of the coastal communities; 2). Identify the external community resources for possible resource speaker in the community disaster training; and 3). Prepare and sign of MOA related to community-based disaster risk management trainings in the coastal communities.

COSCA also coordinated and facilitated the endorsement of relief items to two (2) partner organizations in National Capital Region (NCR) being affected families by Typhoon Mario. A total of 250 families received the relief assistance.

The Center also coordinated and facilitated the conveyance of 36 boxes of school supplies, 7 boxes of toiletries and 3 boxes of children’s wear in Polopina Elementary School Concepcion, Iloilo.
