We want to give our donors an honest update on where things stand with this project.
Our Rangers have continued their ongoing work monitoring Yellow-eared Parrot nests and patrolling key areas of habitat within the reserves. This monitoring work doesn't stop, regardless of funding levels, but it's worth being transparent: resources for this project have been limited so far, and that has slowed our ability to expand restoration and outreach activities as quickly as we'd hoped.
With the support we have received, we've been able to begin small-scale planning for wax palm restoration in degraded areas of the corridor, identifying sites where future planting will have the most impact once we have the funding to carry it out. We've also started laying groundwork for educational materials for nearby schools, though full rollout of the workshops will depend on additional support.
The challenges facing this species, deforestation, fragmented habitat, and a still-fragile population, remain significant, and we're realistic that meaningful progress will take sustained funding over time, not just a single push. We're grateful for the donors who have supported us so far, and we'll continue to share honest updates on what that support is making possible and where we still need help.
