Thank you for your contribution to our 2020 Year End Fundraiser. Although the funds from this campaign have been spent, we thankfully have reoccuring donors that help us continue assisting the community on Utila.
Recent projects include providing fill material for road repairs, distributing additional education supplies, children's books and toys, as well as continuing to provide additional medical supplies to the clinics on Utila.
Tourism has started picking up more on the island, and the local economy is showing signs of recovery. However, we are concerned with a a new and recent issue - there is a reef area on the North-West side of Utila infected with Stony Coral Disease. There are control and island wide education being planned, on trying to minimize the spread as well as how to spot any other areas they may be impacted. We are told that a cocktail of Amoxicin and "Base 2b", a special underwater medical adhesive will be used to treat already affected areas, and that funding help may be needed (stay tuned).
If you don't already, please follow us on Facebook for general updates.
Thank you once again for your contribution to Support Utila.
