From January 1 to August 20, 2021, Children of the Night Tutored 2,131 tutoring hours to 81 Prostituted Youth for their High School Diploma
33 passed portions of the High School Equivalence (4 parts)
6 successfully completed the High School Diploma
48% were under 24 years of age
71 were Female 9 were Male 1 was Transgender
36 were Latino 26 were African American 15 were Caucasian 4 were Bi-Racial
Marian became involved in prostitution when she was 15 years old.
She ran away from a county group home and met a person who introduced her to prostitution.
At the age of 20, she reached out to Children of the Night to enroll in our ZOOM one on one tutoring program for the High School Diploma.
A criminal justice victim's service specialist had suggested Marian call Children of the Night to enroll in our online tutoring.
Marian began tutoring for her high school diploma on
June 21, 2021, and after 10 (1 hour) sessions of tutoring she passed the test for the GED – California’s State High School Diploma on July 30th, 2021.
Marian is pregnant and is due this month. Her goal was to complete her high school diploma so she can enroll in a cosmetology program.
