Report on NAPO’s Women’s Voice Project Activities During the reporting period, NAPO continued to effectively implement activities under the Women’s Voice Project, integrating women’s economic empowerment, climate resilience, and social awareness initiatives. • Climate-Resilient Livelihood Activities: The project supported 50 women in harvesting green vegetables cultivated in greenhouse systems during the autumn season. In addition, another 50 women successfully planted winter vegetable crops, ensuring continuity of production and income generation. Sixteen women engaged in oyster mushroom cultivation, which has shown strong growth and promising results. These livelihood activities have contributed to improved household income, enabling women to better meet basic family needs. Importantly, participating women reported increased confidence, decision-making capacity, and a stronger sense of dignity through their economic contributions. • Capacity Building on Climate Change and Gender: A series of training sessions were conducted during the winter season, focusing on climate change, climate-resilient agriculture, and the intersection of climate change and gender. With financial support from TEWA (Women’s Fund for Nepal), a total of 300 women were trained, enhancing their knowledge and practical skills to adapt to changing environmental conditions. • Community Awareness and Advocacy: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, NAPO organized community-level awareness programs addressing critical social issues, including child marriage, chaupadi (menstrual seclusion), domestic violence, gender-based violence, and caste-based discrimination. These messages were amplified through local FM radio programs organized within women’s groups, increasing outreach and community engagement. • Women’s Radio Program: A weekly women-led radio program was broadcast through two local FM stations, serving as a platform for dialogue and advocacy. The program featured expert discussions on climate change and climate-resilient agriculture, while also enabling women to raise their voices on key issues such as gender-based violence and menstrual hygiene management. This initiative has strengthened community awareness and promoted women’s leadership in public discourse. Key Outcomes Increased income generation and food security among participating women Strengthened knowledge and practices related to climate-resilient agriculture Enhanced confidence, leadership, and participation of women in community spaces Improved awareness on gender equality and harmful social practices Planned Activities for the Next Quarter Support women in summer vegetable cultivation and harvesting Continue strengthening women’s economic empowerment through agriculture Expand efforts to enhance household resilience and climate adaptation capacity Sustain awareness and advocacy initiatives through community engagement and media platforms
