In March 2026, Seyni Ndir Seck, our President, and Hélène Harder, our filmmaker of the Ladies’ Turn documentary, were invited to speak during two days of workshops for young women on Sport and Fashion. The workshops were part of the “On your Mark!” program organized by our partner ALKÉ with the think tank Sport and Citizenship and the famous rugby team, Stade Francais.
ALKÉ is a company that makes sportswear "for committed sportswomen whose ambition is to combine sports and fashion." They designed a jersey in honor of Seyni in 2022. They do really creative, high quality jerseys- I own one and love it! This is not a sales pitch but if you are curious, you can check Seyni's jersey and their other jerseys here: https://www.alkesoccer.com/en
The Sport and Fashion workshops brought together 30 young women ages 13-18 who were connected via the associations Emmaus Soloidarité and Doctors Without Borders. Emmaus Solidarité is an association that fights to combat the exclusion of individuals and families living on the streets. They are similar to a Salvation Army or a Goodwill in that they run shops reselling donated clothes and other goods. As well as their global operations, Doctors Without Borders assists migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees in mainland France.
The young women took part in workshops on designing jerseys, exploring visual identity, teamwork, public speaking, and preparing a final fashion show to showcase their creations. ALKÉ told us that Seyni and Helene speaking about their experience with Ladies’ Turn and what inspires them was “a highlight of the program, sparking discussions with the young women about the power of sports as a tool for expression, engagement, and social transformation.”
ALKÉ has been a great partner to us, donating some of their revenue in past years to Ladies’ Turn, always helping us out when we have a need in France, and connecting us to other corporate sports partners. For instance, they put us in touch with Dacathlon, kind of like a European REI, who donated 5,000 euros, 1200 uniforms and 600 cleats to Ladies' Turn.
In other public speaking, in April 2026, Seyni and I also had the pleasure of talking over zoom with my friend Leila’s son’s 5th grade class in Lisbon who picked gender equality in sports as their group project. We were thrilled that boys and girls at 10 years old are already thinking about how to ensure sports are equally available to girls and boys! They asked such great questions!
On June 16, we’ll be glued to the Senegal men’s team’s first game of the World Cup against France in New Jersey at 3pm!
Thank you again for all of your support! We could not do this without you. Have a fun men’s World Cup! Ku meen sa morom duma! Wolof for “May the best team win!”
Nio Far, In Solidarity,
Jennifer and the Ladies' Turn Team
