Update Sudan Emergency Fund

By Mastora Bakhiet | Executive Director

Darfur Women Network

Update: Sudan Emergency Fund

Location: Zamzam Camp, El Fasher , Sudan

Date: November 13, 2024

Darfur Women Network extends deep gratitude to our dedicated teams and our invaluable partnership with GlobalGiving. Together, we’re able to provide essential services to survivors of the Darfur genocide living in Zamzam displaced persons camp since 2011, as well as to those recently displaced from South, West, and Central states due to intensified violence by the Rapid Support Force (RSF). The RSF has taken control over four states, leading to widespread displacement as civilians flee war crimes, including assaults, looting, destruction of vital resources, and horrific acts of violence.

In RSF-controlled regions, civilians face unimaginable challenges: hospitals have been destroyed, and those who remain are left with no access to essential medicine, food, money, or even clean water—people and animals often share contaminated drinking water ponds, further plagued by mosquitoes and disease.

Thanks to the support from GlobalGiving and the Sudan Emergency Fund, our brave Team 1 members—who are themselves in Zamzam—have successfully distributed food to 1,800 families, including 800 additional families in the second phase of the initiative. We are especially grateful to provide food and milk to 200 young children under the age of two.

Stay tuned as we soon share updates from our Team 2 efforts. We are truly honored to serve and navigate through conflict zones to reach those seeking safety and survival.

Thank you
