In Warispura, Faisalabad, many women and girls continue to face social and economic challenges that restrict their access to education, employment, and financial independence. Through its Women’s Empowerment and Vocational Skills Development Project, AWARD Pakistan is helping marginalized women overcome these barriers by providing practical vocational training, strengthening their confidence, and opening doors to sustainable livelihood opportunities.
During this reporting period, 120 women and girls completed vocational training in different marketable skills. Among them, 48 participants received beauty skills training, and 20 have started offering home-based beauty services. 18 completed stitching training, with 10 now earning an income or managing small tailoring businesses. In computer literacy, 12 participants gained digital skills, enabling 5 to secure freelance opportunities and begin earning online.
To recognize their progress and encourage personal development, participants enjoyed a recreational trip that promoted teamwork and strengthened relationships. They also took part in final assessments and a certificate distribution ceremony celebrating their dedication and achievements. Additionally, a breast cancer awareness session provided women with valuable information about early detection, prevention, and maintaining their health.
The positive response to the training has generated growing interest among women in Warispura and nearby communities. Many are eager to join the upcoming training cycle, reflecting the increasing demand for accessible skills development and employment opportunities. AWARD Pakistan is preparing to welcome another group of participants to extend these benefits to more women and girls.
To respond to this growing demand, completing the vocational training centre remains a key priority. An additional USD 15,793 is required to finish the facility, including a residential hostel for women travelling from distant rural communities who face difficulties finding safe and affordable accommodation. The hostel will help remove a major barrier for underserved women and school dropouts who otherwise may be unable to participate in vocational training.
With continued support from GlobalGiving donors, AWARD Pakistan can complete the centre and create opportunities for hundreds of women to learn, grow, and earn. Every contribution brings women closer to financial independence, enabling them to improve their families’ well-being and contribute to stronger, more resilient communities.
