Hi! Happy June from Rainforest Partnership's team in Ecuador ... I'm excited to share these recent photos with you as a supporter of our Women of the Rio Napo project.
We've made exciting progress over the past few months, watching the cachama grow from jus ta few centimeters to the size you can see in the photos! And, more importantly, the fish who start out so small become an important source of income for women and their families. The first year of this project has been an exciting success story -- the communities have started using the fish they released into their community pools for food security and for income, and our technical partners at Fundacion Centro Lianas will continue supporting the women to make sure the projects continue to grow and produce results in the long term, which, of course, is the goal.
Looking forward: we're now launching some new work with the women, to begin working with other rainforest products that they'll be able to use as an income source, to support education, food security, access to clean water, and more. Some of these will include honey and beekeeping, or growing cacao to make chocolate! Stay tuned for updates on these new exciting steps soon.
Thank you, as always! Please reach out with any questions you may have.
Take care and have a lovely start to summertime.
Raina
