In Agadez, the project is now entering a new and very practical phase. Two new seamstresses are currently being trained to make reusable menstrual underwear by a local master tailor, who is very pleased with their progress.
Alongside production, important awareness-raising work is already underway around menstrual hygiene and menstrual health. Our local partners have already met with midwives and healthcare professionals at the Agadez maternity hospital to prepare information and prevention activities for women and girls.
Because providing menstrual products is only part of the solution, the project also creates opportunities to address the menstrual cycle, hygiene, infection prevention and, more broadly, sexual and reproductive health. Step by step, a local network is being built in Agadez to make reusable menstrual underwear a genuine tool for health, information and greater autonomy for women and girls.
