Our globe is facing extreme climate threats-scorching heatwaves, droughts, flash floods, and cloudbursts. In Pakistan, the Salt Range foothills and right bank of the Jhelum River are facing the worst impacts. Here, women are responding with nurseries and 5,000 trees per village. These green shields restore soil, cool land, and protect families. This local initiative has global impact: by empowering women to heal ecosystems, we secure survival and a safer future for all.
Communities along the Salt Range foothills and the right bank of River Jhelum face climate disasters on multiple fronts. Sudden cloudbursts trigger flash floods, while the Jhelum swells with seasonal floods, washing away fertile land and homes. Long droughts and record heat waves scorch the soil, deepening poverty. Women, already burdened, walk farther for water and struggle to feed families. Without urgent action, this fragile region risks irreversible erosion, food insecurity, and displacement
This project empowers women in 50 villages to lead local climate action. Women will establish community nurseries, raising millions of native trees for reforestation and flood control. Each village will plant 5,000 trees to stabilize soil, reduce erosion, and cool the land. Awareness drives will spread knowledge on water conservation and climate adaptation. By turning women into climate leaders, local action here will create a global impact for a safer, greener future.
Over time, women-led nurseries will restore 50 villages into green, climate-resilient communities. Millions of trees will anchor soil, prevent erosion, and reduce the fury of flash floods from the Salt Range and the Jhelum River. Families will gain cooler microclimates, better water retention, and fertile land for farming. Women empowered as nursery leaders will pass knowledge to the next generation. This local resilience will ripple outward, contributing to global fight against climate change.
